Celebrating College Acceptances

Celebrating College Acceptances

College acceptances keep rolling in for our accomplished Class of 2024.

Congratulations to the members of the class on your many successes, and good luck as you select the best fit for your bright future!

Students gather in the Counseling Office to celebrate college acceptances

The Office of School & College Counseling has been hosting college acceptance celebrations periodically during Senior Break. Seniors are invited to celebrate any college acceptances they've received by putting a snowflake on the college acceptance mural.

Preparing for College

The Senior Year Counseling Program

The Counseling Office empowers seniors to navigate the college application season with confidence and success.

Programs that support both students and their families with all aspects of their college selection process include:

  • Apply Yourself Seminar: Two- hour in-person Common Application process tutorial
  • College Application & Naviance Senior Class Assembly
  • The Write Stuff: College Essay Review Day;
  • College Conferences @ CCHS - over 100 colleges came to CCHS this fall
  • Senior Parent College Night
  • Financial Aid Night

As students begin receiving acceptances to colleges, we ask them to post their success on a mural in the School and College Counseling Office. For our hard-working students, it is a feel-great moment for sure!

Thank you CCHS School & College Counseling Team for a GREAT College Exploration Kickoff program for our Class of 2025!

As acceptances roll in for the seniors, the juniors continue their college search and discernment.

In addition to these college exploration workshops, the School Counseling Team will be having 1:1 meetings with junior students throughout the second semester to talk about college and the post-secondary options that are the best fit for their goals and talents.

Exploring College Possibilities

The Junior Year Counseling Program

The college exploration process begins in earnest during a student's junior year at Central Catholic.

Juniors have the opportunity to attend CCHS sponsored college conferences with higher educational professionals in the fall and the college exploration process officially kicks off in January.

Juniors prepare for and take standardized tests, including the PSAT and the SAT. The PSAT, taken in the fall, provides an outstanding indication of how prepared students are for the SAT’s. Junior students also take an official SAT during their school day in April, which guarantees each student will at least establish a baseline score to help them make future decisions.

Each spring CCHS hosts a Jesuit college fair exclusively for our junior students that provides an excellent opportunity to connect with college admission professionals representing colleges from east to west coast.

Before the end of the junior year the school counselors hold a college application seminar in which all students request a letter of recommendation, create a Common Application college and learn how to best respond to college application writing prompts.

The Counseling Office conducts several seminars and parent nights throughout the year to ensure students and families have the information and support they need to succeed.
